TAKING A MOMENT...
The boys and I will stay home tomorrow night and they'll pass out candy. It's good to stay home and be the hosts with the most and not get out in the rain and cold on a school night besides. #1 son is very ok with it and second son is happy too, which is good since they don't have a choice hee hee! Be safe everyone and may you have a peaceful halloween:D

V IS FOR VEST
Made from this pattern and from Deluxe Chunky 100% Wool from Universal Yarn Inc. Color 41145. It is the first bulky weight yarn I've used and it feels great, though it was a bit slubby and had more knots than I like. I love the button. It's one of Carol's (LYS owner) favorites. Even though it turned out well, I don't think I'll keep it since I have an abdominal hernia and it makes me look pregnant. There's always someone else who can use it more than me. Vests are nice to knit since you don't find yourself on a sleeve island. I was so happy to knit my DH a vest last year. He wears it and DS 2 was having some fun rattling around in it too.

BUSY BUSY BUSY
I can hardly wrap my brain around the fact that the holidays are almost upon us. Why is it that time just flies faster the older you get?
Four Little Words Meme
*RESPONSIBILITY* Being accountable for your own actions without blaming others. When I think of this word I think mainly on my responsibility as a mother. It's something I feel called to be and I love being a mother. I'm responsible for raising my children as Catholics, but I'm not resposible for their ultimate outcome. Somewhere they have the responsibility to live what they've been taught.
*REALITY* Reality TV. I guess we get that from writer's striking and so the TV executives showed them and us "we don't need no stinking writers!" I never got into the island TV shows, but have enjoyed "Dog the Bounty Hunter". I think because I see Christian values being utilized in a real way. It also ends well with Dog and posse getting the "bad" guys. Plus Hawaii as the backdrop is totally OK with me!!!
*RENEWAL* Going on retreat can mean a renewal of faith, hope and charity. Being made fresh. Being brought back to a good condition. During mass we are called to renew our baptismal promises. It's refreshing.
*REFLECTION* When I think of this word I think of reflecting on my sins before confession. I also think of how we are called to be a reflection of Christ. I have a long way to go, but am fighting the good fight. Thank God He sees what is in the heart and not as others see.
I won't tag anyone, but if you want to do this meme feel free to choose your own four words and share what they mean to you:D

THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD...
I often think of Job during loss. His words are "The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away. Blessed be the name of the Lord!" How do we get to the point where we can say, "not my will, but thine be done"? Is it so simple a choice? I know, for me, I struggle every time something like this happens. I've suffered a LOT of loss in my life. I've battled depression, abuse, loss of health, disappointment, and had to deal with premature births, bankruptsy, and the unknown. All I know is that the ONLY THING that has gotten me through much of it is the belief that there is indeed a God. He IS all good and merciful. God IS alive and well, but we must seek Him out. Angels are real and we have indeed had angelic intervention especially with our boys. God answers every prayer. Sometimes the answer is "no".
I read the Bible because I believe it contains the words of life. I carry my cross daily. I choose to love and though it isn't easy, I believe that even when God says "no", it isn't because He is heartless, but because He sees through eternal eyes and knows what is best for us. Here is an article about the Catholic church's teaching about unbaptised infants who die and supposedly go to limbo. I had a baby brother Jimmy Lee who was born too soon and died without being baptised. I believe that God makes it possible for their little souls to be in heaven. We were sorely chastised when we didn't immediately get our first two baptised in the hospital, so we made sure to have Michael baptised the day after he was born. We could have had a nice ceremony for him afterwards but really we didn't think it necessary. Anyway I'm rambling. I am basically an optomistic person, which has helped me during the darkest times. I am not on any medication for depression though there are times that I'm sure it could have helped. It was a surprise to me that there were saints who battled depression as well, so I guess there is hope for me yet;P
Count your blessings and let people know they matter. We all struggle through this valley of tears, so be kind. It doesn't cost anything to smile:D

2Bless the Lord, O my soul: and never forget all he hath done for thee.
3Who forgiveth all thy iniquities: who healeth all thy diseases.
4Who redeemeth thy life from destruction: who crowneth thee with mercy and compassion.
5Who satisfieth thy desire with good things: thy youth shall be renewed like the eagle's.
6The Lord doth mercies, and judgment for all that suffer wrong.
7He hath made his ways known to Moses: his wills to the children of Israel.
8The Lord is compassionate and merciful: longsuffering and plenteous in mercy.
9He will not always be angry: nor will he threaten for ever.
10He hath not dealt with us according to our sins: nor rewarded us acording to our iniquities.
11For according to the height of the heaven above the earth, he hath strengthened his mercy towards them that fear him.
12As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our iniquities from us.
13As a father hath compassion on his children, so hath the Lord compassion on them that fear him
14For he knoweth our frame. He remembereth that we are dust.
15Man's days are as grass: as the flower of the field so shall he flourish.
16For the spirit shall pass in him, and he shall not be: and he shall know his place no more.
17But the mercy of the Lord is from eternity and unto eternity, upon them that fear him.
And his justice unto children's children,
18to such as keep his covenant, And are mindful of his commandments to do them.
19The Lord hath prepared his throne in heaven: and his kingdom shall rule over all.
20Bless the Lord, all ye his angels: you that are mighty in strength, and execute his word, hearkening to the voice of his orders.
21Bless the Lord, all ye his hosts: you ministers of his that do his will.
22Bless the Lord, all his works: in every place of his dominion, O my soul, bless thou the Lord.
