A CATHOLIC'S WEAPON OF CHOICE
THE LOVEY AWARD
I'm humbled and excited to receive this lovely award from my friend the Catholic Caveman. I admire the Caveman for being so strong in the Catholic faith. He kinda reminds me of what John the Baptist might have been like, you know, no nonsense, tell-it-like-it-is kinda guy. Thanks again Cavey:~D
About the award:
“These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers. Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award.”
So without further eloquence, I give you the following eight awardees --

There are two ways...http://lasalettejourney.blogspot.com/2008/10/mother-teresa-on-abortion-america-needs.html?showComment=1224928500000
"There are two ways, one of life and one of death; but a great difference between the two ways. The way of life, then, is this: First, you shall love God who made you; second, your neighbour as yourself; and all things whatsoever you would should not occur to you, do not also do to another." - The Didache.
"America needs no words from me to see how your decision in has deformed a great nation. The so-called right to abortion has pitted mothers against their children and women against men. It has sown violence and discord at the heart of the most intimate human relationships. It has aggravated the derogation of the father's role in an increasingly fatherless society. It has portrayed the greatest of gifts -- a child -- as a competitor, an intrusion, and an inconvenience. It has nominally accorded mothers unfettered dominion over the independent lives of their physically dependent sons and daughters. And, in granting this unconscionable power, it has exposed many women to unjust and selfish demands from their husbands or other sexual partners. Human rights are not a privilege conferred by government. They are every human being's entitlement by virtue of his humanity. The does not depend, and must not be declared to be contingent, on the pleasure of anyone else, not even a parent or a sovereign." ( -- "Notable and Quotable," Wall Street Journal, 2/25/94, p. A14)
"But I feel that the greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion, because it is a war against the child - a direct killing of the by the mother herself. And if we accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another? How do we persuade a woman not to have an abortion? As always, we must persuade her with love, and we remind ourselves that love means to be willing to give until it hurts. Jesus gave even his life to love us. So the mother who is thinking of abortion, should be helped to love - that is, to give until it hurts her plans, or her free time, to respect the life of her child. The father of that child, whoever he is, must also give until it hurts. By abortion, the mother does not learn to love, but kills even her own child to solve her problems. And by abortion, the father is told that he does not have to take any responsibility at all for the child he has brought into the world. That father is likely to put other women into the same trouble. So abortion just leads to more abortion. Any country that accepts abortion is not teaching the people to love, but to use any violence to get what they want. That is why the greatest destroyer of love and peace is abortion. "
"Please don't kill the child. I want the child. Please give me the child. I am willing to accept any child who would be aborted, and to give that child to a married couple who will love the child, and be loved by the child. From our children's home in Calcutta alone, we have saved over 3,000 children from abortions. These children have brought such love and joy to their adopting parents, and have grown up so full of love and joy!"
February 1997 - National Prayer Breakfast in Washington attended by the President and the First Lady: "What is taking place in America is a war against the child. And if we accept that the mother can kill her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another."
"Any country that accepts abortion, is not teaching its people to love, but to use any violence to get what it wants."
"It is a poverty to decide that a child must die so that you may live as you wish."

A COUPLE OF FO'S
At the top shows the blanket in memory of Matthew Levi. It's made from Bernat Sport, Baby Bee, Bernat Softee Baby, and Premier Yarns Angel Self Shading. US5 needles and is about 35"x35". I'm working on some booties of various sizes to include in the box to be sent to the Iowa chapter of The Preemie Project.
The bottom photo is another pad for the Humane Society. Still no sign of our sweet kitty. I did think I saw her remains on the side of the road yesterday morning, but I had Norm and Eric check it out further and thankfully it wasn't her, but still, poor kitties!!!

WORKING THINGS UP
Here's a pad I'm making for the Humane Society. It appears that our beloved 16 year old cat Gweneviere is not coming back. So, if she does not show up by the end of the month I'll take what food and what pads I have to the Humane Society.
Michael is not aware of her absence. He's too busy playing with action figures, Lego's, and finding new ways of expressing himself. He can make me smile any day:~)

SAINT MICHAEL CHAPLET
PRAYER FOR THE USA
Prayer entrusting the USA to the Mother of Mercywww.diocese-kcsj.org/_docs/Election-Prayer-08.pdf
O Most Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Mercy, at this most critical time, we entrust the United States of America to your loving care.
Most Holy Mother, we beg you to reclaim this land for the glory of your Son. Overwhelmed with the burden of the sins of our nation, we cry to you from the depths of our hearts and seek refuge in your motherly protection.
Look down with mercy upon us and touch the hearts of our people. Open our minds to the great worth of human life and to the responsibilities that accompany human freedom.
Free us from the falsehoods that lead to the evil of abortion and threaten the sanctity of family life. Grant our country the wisdom to proclaim that God’s law is the foundation on which this nation was founded, and that He alone is the True Source of our cherished rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
O Merciful Mother, give us the courage to reject the culture of death and the strength to build a new Culture of Life.
Trusting in your most powerful intercession, we pray …
Remember O most , that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help or sought thy intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, we fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins our Mother. To thee do we come, before thee we stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not our petitions, but in thy mercy, hear and answer us. Amen.
A big THANK YOU to Esther for sharing this and the previous prayer.
PRAYER FOR ABORTED BABIES
Prayer for Aborted Babies
Heavenly Father, Thou hast given us the gift of freedom to love and to follow in Thy ways and commands. Some parents choose to abuse this freedom by destroying the fgift of life which Thou hast given to their offspring. Please forgive those who destroy human life by aborting their unborn babies.
Give these unborn children the opportunity to enjoy Thee for all eternity, in accord with Thy ordinance. Assist me in being one in solidarity with Thy little ones by taking to heart the words of Thy Son, "whatever you did for one of these least brothers of Mine, you did for Me." (Mt. 25-40)
Therefore, allow me today, Father, to adopt spiritually an unborn child and to offer my prayers, works, joys and sufferings for that little one, so that child will be able to be born and live for Thy greater honor and glory.
We pray this in Jesus' name, in union with the Holy Spirit one God forever and ever. Amen.
