October 6 is the first Friday of the month. It's a designated world wide day of prayer. Here are some Fatima prayers. If ever we needed prayer it's right now!

I've been tagged by Esther at A Catholic Mom in Hawaii. If you want, consider yourself tagged too:D
1. A place you've visited and your favorite thing there.
I went to New York, NY in May of '84 and my favorite thing was the Metropolitan Museum. I could have spent hours in there. I went with a group of college students who were studying interior design. A fabulous experience! I want to go back someday for sure!
2. A country you'd like to visit and why.
I'd LOVE to go to Italy and visit the Pope. Italy is so full of wonderful history, great food, fun people who can appreciate a woman of my girth (bring on the pasta baby!), art, and what a romantic language! PLEASE!
3. A place from history you'd like to visit and why.
I love the idea of the antibellam south. Whenever I read a romance novel they always tended to be southern historican romance. I went to San Antonio with some girl friends shortly before I was married and the Riverwalk there is just SO ROMANTIC, I wanted my Norman to be there with me. I'll get him there yet! I think it's the idea of gracious living and being a pampered and appeciated lady, not of leisure, but of strong character and Christian conviction. Bring on the southern gentleman!! Plus, who does not love a southern accent ya'll! Hey, Paula Dean! What's cookin'?
4. A place you know a lot about.
I know a lot about Springfield, MO. At least it's the place I'm most familiar with.
5. A place you'd like to learn more about.
Tell me something about where YOU LIVE:D
6. A fictional place you'd like to visit.
The star ship Enterprise.

I love THANKSGIVING! It's all about giving thanks with family, friends and lots of good and plentiful foods. We have turkey occasionally throughout the year, but a THANKSGIVING TURKEY is special. This guy sits in my windowsill above the sink and reminds me that we should make EVERY DAY a THANKSGIVING DAY:D

Here's the site with all the info about making 8" squares for an afghan for Crazy Aunt Purl's grandmother. It's just like one big loving community that gets together to do nice things for others. Reminds me of what MY grandma would tell stories of. People doing for others and living their faith. Making someone's day a little brighter and warmer:D

Bishop Doran speaks of them here. May we all see the Way, Truth and Life in Jesus Christ!!! Amen!

Tracy is just a super lady and makes the cutest things ever!! Check out her adorable felted pumpkins and read her post about The Preemie Project. It's hard not to be passionate about the little babies. It's one of the best charities out there. Caron Simply Soft is what I use most.
Also The Dulaan Project has it's goals for next year, one more item than this year which is a whopping 12,086!! It's in it's third year and has also grown by leaps and bounds. The due date for the items will be July 1, 2007. Here are some patterns that could be used. Those poor people are in dire need of anything to keep them warm. This is where my wool goes.
Of course the group that gets my cotton yarn is Cloths For Crisis. I have a cloth on the needles at all times and they are much appreciated by the recipients.
There's so much good that we all can do one stitch at a time. It's time well spent:D

Child's Simple Sweater Size 6
Pattern for this version here. Her newest version is here. It was interesting to knit from one sleeve to the other. I like knitting sweaters from the bottom up best though. It feels like I'm making more progress. I like the autumnal colors on this. I may cast on for another sweater soon for another sweet child:D

Here's a new web site called freedogthebountyhunter and here's a link to sign a petition going to the American and Mexican goverments to let them know where we stand. I've signed this petition and sent emails to the White House. If we want something done we've got to be the squeeky wheels. It's just outrageous that men who have done so much good to make where they live safer from criminals and drugs could be used this way. The Chapman's will have their say Tuesday on a special on A&E. If we don't back up the heros then we back up the criminals. That ain't happenin' here I can tell ya!

Our God is a God of justice. May He ever guide and protect us all and may we reflect Our Father in all we do with love and compassion. Amen!

It's unbelievable that this modern day hero could be treated this way and we Americans could stand for it!!! I urge you to send an e-mail to the white house at ( for some intervention and say some prayers that this travesty will be ended soon with "Dog", his son and friend's total release. Our American Heros are too precious to be used as political pawns! This American mother is watching!

Two Pink Scarves Ready To Go Here

Sideways Garter Stitch Scart
Using US 8 needles, CO 220. Knit until desired width. I did about 42 rows. I like this as there are so many possibilities for other yarns and you don't have to use a whole skein if you don't want. A real fun and fast knit:D

Here are some insightful and comforting words that have been around for awhile now. Take comfort!

Here is a good article that explains some of the troubles we are having today with faith in general. Unfortunately the idea of science being the "way, truth and life" is too pervasive even in the Catholic Church. My Bible says that Jesus is the way, truth and life. Science is changing it's mind and is conflicting. Jesus is never changing, but the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. I'll put my trust in Jesus thank you very much!!!

The story is titled "Remembering 9/11: A Gesture For The Future".
Five years ago this morning my husband and I were home while our new stove was being installed. We had the television on the Today Show when the news broke. It was just a terrible nightmare that was being played out live on the television! How many tears and how many prayers were said because of those terrible events! My reaction was to knit. I knit MANY 7" x 9" squares for the Warm Up America project. I believe I made enough for a dozen afghans. It was something I could do to help. There are times when I can't take watching another news broadcast. Things are happening to people that are SO HORRIFIC and I just end up crying and feeling bad and I know this about myself, I HAVE TO make things better!! If I can't do anything about a situation then I just as soon not hear about it. It's very therapeutic to fast from the television news. But when I hear about some way I can help I WANT TO!!!
The Preemie Project has sure come a long way in a year's time. It was a little over a year ago that the first donation was made and now it has grown by leaps and bounds. Take a look at the pictures of the items donated! It's such a worthwhile cause and so easy to make up a little hat or bootie set. Even using up small leftover balls of soft yarn can be made into a much needed blanket. Even if it's only one tiny hat, that's one little head that needs help in keeping warm. Many of the very tiny babies can't regulate their own body temperatures. The gesture of a stranger wanting to do something for my babies meant a lot to me. So I do what I can to give back. It's a passion I have and I hope you consider doing something for The Preemie Project or really something nice for any number of charities we have in our great nation. There's much to be done, but it doesn't have to be done all at once, just one stitch and a prayer at a time:D
God bless you and God bless America!!!

Now who would have ever thought of THAT?! EWWWW!!!

Christ, graciously hear us.

V. Immaculate Mary, meek and humble of heart,
R. Make our hearts like unto the Heart of Jesus.

Let us Pray
O most merciful God, Who, for the salvation of sinners and the refuge of the miserable, was pleased that the Most Pure Heart of Mary should be most like in charity and pity to the Divine Heart of Thy Son, Jesus Christ, grant that we who commemorate this sweet and loving Heart may, by the merits and intercession of the same Blessed Viirgin, merit to be found like to the Heart of Jesus, through the same Christ Our Lord.
R. Amen.

If you scroll down here to where the YouTube screen is you will so enjoy those precious babies laughing. I could just watch it over and over it's SO DARLING!!!
Today the Catholic Church celebrates the birth of Our Lady. We'll get a cake and celebrated when my long-suffering hubby gets home from work. We are going to have company tonight too, to see if we have enough extra room for some stuff our friend who is going through a divorce needs to store so he doesn't have any extra expense with storage fees. The good Lord knows you spend ALL your money on the attorney fees. Please say a prayer for this family who has three children in school. Divorce is such an ugly, vile thing. Sometimes necessary but always ugly!

Pink Yarn...Most On Sale:D
When I came across this blog this morning I decided to go get some pink yarn and send in a pink scarf. I had a 40% off coupon for Michael's and most of the other yarn was on sale at Hobby Lobby. Yeah!!
Check out Yarnival!. It's the first issue and they are taking ideas for the second.
Had lunch with my sweet hubby and our friend Carolyn. Love you!! Have a good rest of the day and that goes for ya'll too:D

Yep, it's hit again. I have several things started on the needles just for the fun of it and the fun of variety.
I LOVE this time of year! So many craft shows to see and get inspired by.
The next mail by date to The Preemie Project is October 20 for the pumpkin push items as well as the normal set of items. I don't feel as pressured to get more pumpkin sets out since I started early and am doing some Christmas/Holiday sets as well.
I got exited about the Dulaan Project again after reading their post so I started a simple sweater in my favorite 100% wool Cascade 220. I scored some Cottontots at WM on sale and, since Laura at The Preemie Project said they had enough cloths there, am working on some cloths for Cloths For Crisis. It's such a nice soft cotton in such a nice pretty color that it's perfect for a child. If you make enough of these simple squares you could sew them together to make a nice soft blanket for a child. It's great that we haven't had that bad of a hurricane season so far, but I want to be ready to send cloths to who ever needs them most. I have a lot of cotton to work with and am making some cool cloths for teacher gifts and setting them aside for now.
One of the members at Cloths For Crisis is asking knitters and crocheters for help in building a house in Mississippi. Her blog is here if you are interested in reading about her endeavor.
There's a lot to get done around here, so I'd better get back to it. Maybe I'll start a sweater for ME!?

Here's an interesting outfit for those who are obsessive about sock monkeys. LOL!!!

What a sad story about Steve Irwin aka the crocodile hunter. So sad for his wife and two small children. So sad for the world. May God rest his soul and care for those he left behind.
In other news, I finished up the Twitterpated purse. I used Cascade 220 in a cream color, some happy fabric for lining that I had used on my son Daniel's quilt, and best of all I went to a second hand store where I bought a purse for $.75 which had two usable straps and used one for this purse. It's SO CUTE! I'll be making one in Cascade 220 in a pink color and give them to the two cute girls I made kitty caps for.
I'm also making hats and booties for The Preemie Project which always needs preemie items. They are now collecting store bought (new, used, ebay) preemie clothing. If you don't give to the Preemie Project please consider donating to your local hospital. Hey, just do something kind for a stranger who won't be able to repay you. It's a wonderful feeling and you won't be sad you did.
Well, back to the booties. Hug someone today:D God Bless!!!
