SUGAR COOKIES

The Cookie Book is by Eva Moore. Illustrations by Talivaldis Stubis. The copyright is 1973. I really like the Three-color sugar cookies. It makes about 24 crisp cookies. The dough must be chilled overnight. The ingredients are:
1/2 cup butter
1 cup granulated sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
1 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
food coloring - optional
If you know how to make cookies you know what order you mix the ingredients up. If you want to color the dough do so and then roll into a log about 7 1/2" long and 2" around. Wrap in waxed paper or aluminum foil, or plastic wrap. Put it in the refrigerator overnight or longer. When you want to bake them preheat oven to 400F. Grease the cookie sheets. Slice dough into 1/4" thick cookies. Bake for 8 minutes. When done take them off cookie sheet to cool on wire rack.
Really a basic sugar cookie recipe. Just play and have fun:D

Thanks for the recipe, Lana! I was just thinking yesterday that I should make heart-shaped sugar cookies for my twins to take to their CCD lesson on February 14. I’m going to give your recipe a try. Thanks!
