The Beginning Of Summer Fun

Last night Norm and I took Daniel and Michael to the drive-in at Aurora.  We saw Men In Black 3 and Battleship.  It was a beautiful evening and the stars were shining brightly.  The boys had a wonderful time too.  Today I went to Great Clips where they harvested my hair for Locks Of Love.  The hair cut was free since they take all donated hair cut there and mail it out once a month.  I'm liking the way this summer is starting out:~D

Waiting For The Bus

Last Wednesday Norm and Michael were waiting for Michael's school bus for the last day of first grade.

Organic Cotton Blanket

This blanket measures approx. 34"x38".  I used US10 needles.  The yarn is Lion Brand Yarn Nature's Choice organic cotton.  The skeins were 3oz, 103 yards each.  The colors are from left to right: Espresso, Walnut, Khaki, Spice, Mustard, Macadamia, Almond, Olive, Dusty Sage, and Pistachio.  I cast on 120 sts and knit 20 rows before changing colors.  I could see this in a little cowboys room:~D

Baking Bread

Michael loved the book about the Little Red Hen so much I decided to show him how to make homemade bread.  The house smelled so good while it was baking and tasted pretty good as well:~D

Fun With Plarn

On Facebook, Red Heart had a link to an article about ladies who crochet grocery-bag mats for the homeless.  I thought I'd try my hand at making one. Go to http://www.myrecycledbags.com/2007/02/17/instructions-for-cutting-plastic-bags-creating-recycled-plastic-yarn/ to find out how to make plarn(plastic yarn).  I'm using an H crochet hook.  If my calculations are correct I'll need approx. 300 bags to finish this more or less.  It may take a whole year to collect and work up this mat.  Just another project on the side:~D
