OUR LADY OF AMERICA

"By thy Holy and Immaculate Conception, O Mary, deliver us from evil." OUR LADY OF AMERICA

NOT SO SURPRISING REALLY

Not surprising at all that Bishop Burke took the stand he did. This is part of the everyday spiritual warfare we are confronted with in our current culture of death. Father John Corapi spoke about not affirming anyone in their sins, especially openly grave sins. We all do well to remember that those who openly go against the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church automatically excommunicate themselves from the church. The Catechism has some really good answers for us in reguard to our own responsibilities living in this society and about social justice.

ONE FOR JUDY

Ann has put a call out for some soft chemo caps for her dear Aunt Judy who is battling breast cancer. I still had some soft(band missing) but fun stuff in the STASH so here is my donation ready to be put in the mail this afternoon. I used this pattern. Hope she likes it!

TIME FOR BASEBALL 2007

This smiling boy is ready for his venture into baseball with another coach/team. Doesn't matter to him who he plays with, just wants to PLAY!

HATS AND BLANKETS

Just a quick check in to let ya'll see what I've been doing. Working on another hat from the STASH that Brianne gave. I got ALL the blankets I've got on needles out and am working on them simultaniously. They each have a turn for a specific amount of time so maybe they'll all get done around the same time?!

MOTHER'S LITTLE HELPER

He has been having the BEST time playing with the uncooked bowl of rice! Clean up isn't too bad until he gets handfuls and throws it;~p I love my little helper!!! He helps me to laugh and take one simple step at a time in my walk with God. He's an answer to prayer! Thank you St. Gerard Majella for your example of holiness and obedience, and your intercessory prayers!!!

THE HATS HAVE IT

Getting through some STASH by whipping up some cute hats. The top "Two Needle Baby Hat" found here, made with Caron Simply Soft, is a little small since it's made for someone about a year old. The pink/orange/yellow hat is from a pattern called "Knitted Minnesota Winter Hat" sorry I don't have the link. It's made with two stands of Cascade 220. The next one is a free hat pattern I got in the mail from VOGUEknitting. It's called "Ribbed Cap" I used one strand Cascade 220 and one strand of the sock yarn I got as a prize for being one of the first responders for knitting squares for Grandmother Purl. I really like how the different colors mix. The most current cap is found here and I'm using up the white Cascade 220 and some of the pretty yarn that my friend Brianne gifted me. I've finished the back of the blue child size 8 sweater and have about a third of a sleeve done. Yes, we are busy here. It's the middle of APRIL!!! and I have quite a bit of wool to get through and then I can focus on the Caron Simply Soft and cotton! Take care and remember Jesus came not to condemn, but to save! Thanks be to God!

WORKING IN BLUE

I confess I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! this color. Can you tell;~D I'm this far on the back and almost ready to shape the arms. Since finding the extra STASH yarns I don't think I'll be making any more sweaters for Dulaan until much later. Think I'll just focus on hats until the box is ready to mail.

My MIL was working on an emboidered tablecloth that she is donating to the church's bazaar in November that I wish I'd gotten a picture of. She does wonderful work! It made me want to work on the embroider pillowcases I bought on sale a while back!!! So many choices, but only so many hours in the day!

Here's a prayer for guidance and direction by Richard Warner:

Loving God,

I give you thanks for this day you have given me.

I ask that your Spirit be with me.

Guide and direct my thoughts and my actions,

so that others may see the love

that Christ has given to everyone in me.

Help me to be aware of the needs

of those around me,

and give me the courage to share your love with everyone I meet

In Jesus' name. Amen.

THANKS...I NEEDED THAT

HA!HA!HA!HA!HA!HA!HA!...uh, yeah. Just laughing at my good intentions! I must confess that I just had to have this lushious Egyptian cotton to make myself a t-shirt blouse. My son and I were the first ones through the door of Carol's yearly storewide sale. It's beautiful, but a pain to wind into a ball. That's what I get for falling off the stash wagon! To make matters worse I found a big bag of STASH odds and ends that I'll need to knit up to make me feel better. Sort of like having salad for a week after going to the buffet:~D

WINDY WEDNESDAY

Well, wind or no, the boys and I dropped the Lenten knitting off at the NICU today. There was the 30"x30" knitted blanket, 12 medium preemie hats (fits 3-5 pounders), and 13 burial buntings in the memory of Marlowe. The nurse took a picture of the alumni and thanked us for our donation. Man o man! Does it feel good to be able to give back!!! A big THANK YOU to Annie who hosted the 40 Days For Others again this year!
Wow! I like those pillows. Can you spell WHEW

WE'RE BACK!

Hope everyone had a very blessed Easter! The trip was long but well worth the blessing of the visit. Norm and the boys got to take their first trip up the arch. Mom was doing pretty well except for her knee. It was good to visit with Steve and Mary as well. I got to make the cutest baby hat, but can't share just yet. I'm a bit tuckered and getting the house in order is todays' business at hand. Have a wonderful day!!

AND THEN THERE'S THIS

WOW!!! A little while back Knitnana had a contest and I won!! I just got it in the mail today and had to share!! It's a perfect size for any sock knitting, any preemie hats or cloths. It will be a nice size to take with me during this years baseball games and practice. It has just the perfect amount of inner pockets for the needles, scissors (or clippers), and what-nots. It would be a perfect gift for the sock knitter and can be custom made. The fabrics are top notch and the workmanship is excellent. It's not too early to shop for that special Christmas gift you know!!! Just sayin'. Why not hop on over to Nana's shop and take a look for yourself.

ONE THING AND THE OTHER

ONE THING reminds me of death. Something we all must face. Unfortunately some of God's littlest must be returned. This outfit should fit a 1-3 lb. baby. The sleeper sack is found here. The bonnet is one that is found on The Preemie Project Yahoo group. Tracy has some really cute variations of preemie bonnets. A couple more cute hats are here and here.
THE OTHER reminds me of resurection. The hope of all Christians that we will rise again in Christ. May you all have that hope!! I am resurecting this blue jean quilt project which began in June 2006. I have all the rectangles cut, the thread and the backing. I hope it is finished by THIS June!!!
Tomorrow is Good Friday. The only day of the year when there are no masses. It is also a day of fasting and abstenence. The focus is on Our Lord's Passion. Yes we will watch The Passion of the Christ. It is also time to begin the The Divine Mercy Novena.
TODAY we celebrate my DH on his 44th birthday!!! Hope it's a happy one! You deserve it:~D
It is my hope that everyone will have a blessed Easter! Posting will resume next week. God bless!!!

LITTLE FRILLY HAT

This sweet thing is from SIRDAR's Early Arrivals No.2 Design D pg.15. It's sized to fit a medium preemie (3-5 lb). This is part of the dozen medium preemie hats I'll donate to a local hospital next week as part of my Lenten knitting. We have a couple of babies in the family due in September and November. Maybe I'll knit up some more of these and set them aside just in case;~D

SNACK TIME

It's so sweet to see the big Bubba doing his job and so well too!

CLOTHS

Here are some cloths I've been working on from some free patterns here. Sorry if they don't come out too well! There's an article about the hurrican season. I hope they're wrong, but it won't hurt to have a few cloths in the box just in case!!

32 AND COUNTING

Got the Dulaan box down and started counting items to be sent so far. Last year I sent in 26 items and right now there are 32 items and counting!!! I love beating my old records:~D
