FORMS OF PRAYER

LITURGICAL PRAYER is participating in the worship of the Church, in particular, the Eucharist and the sacraments. It is responding to God as a community while God offers Himself to us.

INDIVIDUAL PRAYER is responding to God as an individual. It is a person's own unique response.

FORMAL PRAYER is a response that has been composed by others for persons to use.

SPONTANEOUS PRAYER is a response in which the person praying uses nonprepared words that come at the moment.

EXPRESSIVE PRAYER is responding to God in a bodily way. It can include singing, dancing, movement, gestures, or creating art.

CONTEMPLATIVE PRAYER is the response to God's presence that happens within a person when that person is alone with God and experiences God's presence, sometimes beyond words in simple holy silence.

CRITTERS NEED LOVE TOO

Rebekah at Knit-Knack is hosting a charity project for her local Humane Society: The Basil and Abner Critter Charity Drive. She's collecting animal toys, blankets, etc. She's got some good sites for patterns. There are some terrific prizes too. It goes on til July 15. It's a good chance to use up some scrap yarn, do some critters some good and a chance to win some prizes. Sign me up:D

Green Soap And Green/White Cloths For Crisis Cloths
Ah, yes the green Irish Spring soap in honor of Project Spectrum. I am working on cloths today to build up my stockpile since the Official Hurricane season is but a few short days away and it is looking like a busy season is ahead for us this year:(

Project Spectrum Green Blanket And Green Frogs On Socks
Got these socks yesterday while getting shoes for second son. Aren't they cute! The blanket was crocheted by my SIL Paula for #1 son but all three have enjoyed its warmth.

Our Blessed Mother

PRAYER FOR MOTHERS
Mother Mary, Queen of Heaven
And Model for mothers everywhere,
You were often asked to put your trust in God.
When faced with the challenge
Of an unmarried pregnancy,
You did all you could, and trusted God.
When faced with the challenge
Of an exceptional child,
You did all you could, and trusted God.
When faced with the abuse of your child,
You did all you could, and trusted God.
And for all your trust, your Son glorified you in joy,
making you queen.
Help me to trust as you did,
In the face of all challenges,
With the grace of your son, Our Lord Jesus Christ.
Amen.

J Is For Joyful Journal

JOYFUL JOURNAL

I used to keep a diary when I was a teenager, but so much that was written in it was so full of hurt and anger I destroyed it. I didn't want to remember any of it. Then when I was employed as a nanny, the previous woman had started a journal while watching baby B. and when I started watching him as a 20 month old boy his parents asked me to continue the journal. I didn't mind writing down what he did during the day, but I resented them wanting me to write in the same style as the previous woman. Anyways, it was a chore and when the next child came along of course a new journal had to be written in. I came to resent writing in journals.
If I died I wouldn't want people to read all the bad stuff that had happened to me. Sometimes when I stop to think about all the truely horrific things that have happened to me it makes me so sad, and I have battled depression before. It is only by the grace of God I am here today and I truely want to treasure life, 'cause I know God wants good things for me and only He could make something good from the c**p that went on in the past. "The Diary Of Anne Frank" was an inspiration as was "Man's Search For Meaning" by Victor Frankle. Both lived in the most horrific situations possible but still were able to see the good in people. I want to do the same. By nature I'm an optimist and it's served me well, all considered. So I want to have my J to stand for JOYFUL JOURNALING in this JOURNEY of life. Basically just counting blessings and believing in the promises of JESUS my savior. It isn't easy, but it IS rewarding.

WORDS OF WISDOM

"People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered; Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives; Be kind anyway. If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies; Succeed anyway. If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you; Be honest and frank anyway. What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight; Build anyway. If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous; Be happy anyway. The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow; Do good anyway. Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough; Give the world the best you've got anyway. You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and God; It was never between you and them anyway."~Mother Teresa
