Summer Strawberry Pie

Summer Strawberry Pie
1 c. sugar
1 box strawberry gelatin(I use large box)
2 c. water
4 T. cornstarch
1/2 t. salt
2 c. strawberries
1 large cooked pie crust

Cook sugar, gelatin, water, cornstarch, and salt in saucepan on med. heat until clear. Let cool. Add strawberries. Pour into large cooked pie crust. Refrigerate.

This recipe has been in my recipe box since I was a teenager! Haven't made this in a while. Added some blueberries too as they were on sale and are good to go with the strawberries. If topped with whipped cream would make a nice light red, white and blue dessert:~P

Stitch "N" Pitch 2010

Norm and I decided this would be our date night. When we got to the ballpark it was sunny but some rain clouds were in the background. We said "hi" to Carol from Simply Fibers when we came through the gate.
When we sat in our seats it wasn't long before a lady came round to say the rain was on the way. We stood for over an hour while it poured. We then decided to walk around a bit but it was obvious to me that I needed to sit, so I found a vacant beam and sat on the concrete. I knit a little, had a few nachos, took a picture of the flag from where I sat and one with some peanuts that my dear hubby was having.
When a lady from Lake of the Ozarks stopped and talked with me she said that the cute young girl with her had been planning on throwing out the first ball but they were leaving I knew the game was going to be rained out. The venders got quite a lot of business anyways.
At 8:20 the fireworks began but Norm and I decided to leave. I captured the huge double rainbow on our way to the car. Pictures don't do it justice. Thank you God for your wonderful signs of love!!!
We'll try again to watch the Springfield Cardinals play ball. Time spent with my sweetheart is time never wasted:~D

Big Bright Orangy Round Blanket

There's just no end in sight for the round blankets in this house! This is the biggest so far at approx. 43" in diameter, after binding off at 620 sts. I used unlabeled donated cotton yarn and edged it with Caron Simply Soft. US6 dpn and circulars are the needles used.
I've been busy going through my material and yarns and have found a group in the Catholic Church (Comforts From The Heart) that can use them. The first day of summer I donated seven trash bags full of material and yarn to this group. Last Friday I donated four round blankets and two trash bags of material to Newborns In Need. Ahhhh! I feel refreshed:~)
No need to worry about me having enough yarn left! HA! I've got so much yarn that if I didn't buy anymore for at least a year (more really) I'd still have enough to keep me busy. In fact I have enough projects to keep me busy for probably a decade or more. A real gluttony of riches! The first part of July I need to focus on catching up with my embroidery and do some sewing.
Our cherry and grape tomatoes are ripening and they are sooooo good warm from the sun! Thank you God for such yummy treats:~P
Michael enjoyed the evening Vacation Bible School last night. He's looking forward to this evenings activities.
Daniel and I have signed up for this summer's reading program at the library. I have only read three books so far (science fiction for me) and Daniel has gotten his "Food 'N' Fun Flipcard" full of 34 freebies. We've seen about half a dozen Shakespear films. Norm and I have enjoyed them but the boys have no interest whatsoever! Too bad for them!
Hope you are finding time to do some enjoyable things this hot summer!

Father and Eleven-Year-Old Son

Ready to see the Springfield Cardinals play tonight. Supper was just what the birthday boy ordered: Kraft macaroni and cheese, real mashed potatoes with brown gravy, green beans and for dessert chocolate pudding pie. Had a small party on Saturday. I think Daniel is one happy boy:~D
