Blessed Solanus Casey (1870-1957)

Again and again, in his letters, he repeated his life's message--that confidence in God is the very soul of prayer and became the condition for supernatural intervention in our lives. "God condescends to use our powers if we don't spoil His plans by ours," he frequently wrote.
Father Solanus died July 31, 1957, on the 53rd anniversary of his first Mass.
If he becomes sainted, he will be the first American-born man thus honored. Elizabeth Ann Seton was canonized in 1976.

BY THE WAY...

Have you seen this article? What a neat idea! Too bad they didn't post a pattern! Also, don't they realize not all knitters are "little old ladies"?!

Pad In Blues And Purples
The last part of this 30"x30" pad is made with Red Heart yarn colors Orchid and Plum Pudding. It's a pain 'cause the variegated yarn is only 5 oz and the solid is 7 oz. I used the end of the solid blue up holding one of blue and the other of orchid. I tried to use all the yarn I could. It's a nice size and feels nice and spongy. The colors are pretty and are a nice blend for the end of June's color blue and July's upcoming color purple.

Cut Up Blue Jeans And Backing Material For Quilt...I Love To Recycle:D
June isn't over yet and blue is the color, so I decided I'd take a break from knitting and sew up a nice quilt during this last week in June. I had the pretty material for the backing for a while, so it's a bit of de-stashing. I'm sure I'll find time to knit too. It's a habit that's sure hard to break! Here is a nice pattern for such a quilt.

Blogger Buddies Meet At Last
Brianne and I meet at last today at our LYS. I was her Secret Pal 6 spoiler. She and her husband and son moved to Nixa from southern California and I got to welcome them (secretly) to the Ozarks.

Brianne And Her Mom Linda ( HI CAROL !)
That's Carol in the back ringing up some purchases. I got to meet Linda before Brianne got in. They are the cutest mother/daughter duo! Two rays of sunshine to be sure!

Brianne and Sarah Knit Blogging Friends

Brianne's Beautiful Sweater

Sarah's Cool Short Row Hat

Contest Winnings YEAH!
Even though Brianne held my contest winnings hostage, it was definitely worth getting to finally meet up with her. She and her mom are so cute together and so much alike. Carol and Becky who work at our LYS are always very helpful and it was so nice to visit with them and Sarah when she got there too. Knitters are so generous and besides the cool prizes of sock yarn and yarntainer Brianne included a couple of very cute hats (which will be donated toThe Preemie Project) a kerchief with some good smelling shampoo, shower gel & bubble bath sample, a pattern card for The Trellis Shawl, and some personalized stitch markers. Thank you so much!!

Saint Pio's Post Communion Prayer

Stay with me, Lord, for it is necessary to have You present so that I do not forget You.
You know how easily I abandon You.
Stay with me, Lord, because I am weak and I need Your strength, that I may not fail so often.
Stay with me, Lord, for You are my life, and without You, I am without fervor.
Stay with me, Lord, for you are my light, and without You, I am in darkness.
Stay with me, Lord, to show me Your will.
Stay with me, Lord, so that I hear Your voice and follow You.
Stay with me, Lord, for I desire to love You very much, and always be in Your company.
Stay with me, Lord, if You wish me to be faithful to You.
Stay with me, Lord, for as poor as my soul is, I want it to be a place of consolation for You, a nest of love.
Stay with me, Jesus, for it is getting late and the day is coming to a close, and life passes; death, judgment, eternity approaches. It is necessary to renew my strength, so that I will not stop along the way and for that, I need You. It is getting late and death approaches, I fear the darkness, the temptations, the dryness, the cross, the sorrows. O how I need You, my Jesus, in this night of exile!
Stay with me tonight, Jesus, in life with all it's dangers. I need You.
Let me recognize You as Your disciples did at the breaking of the bread, so that the Eucharistic Communion be the Light which disperses the darkness, the force which sustains me, the unique joy of my heart.
Stay with me, Lord, because at the hour of my death, I want to remain united to You, if not by communion, at least by grace and love.
Stay with me, Jesus, I do not ask for divine consolation, because I do not merit it, but the gift of Your Presence, oh yes, I ask this of You!
Stay with me, Lord, for it is You alone I look for, Your Love, Your Grace, Your Will, Your Heart, Your Spirit because I love You and ask no other reward but to love You more and more.
With a firm love, I will love You with all my heart while on earth and continue to love You perfectly during all eternity. Amen.

My sweet boy had a little accident last night with his bike. His cheek met the end of his handlebars and gave a bad cut and bruise. Even with a helmet on there can be some boo boos. Thank God he didn't poke his eye or break anything!!! Them boys! Sigh!

Light A Candle And Say Some Prayers
Fr. Mike has asked us to say some prayers for his mother Margaret McDevitt who is not long for this world.
This photo was taken at the adoration chapel at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. I love to go there and spend an hour with our Savior in the blessed sacrement. It's so peaceful and joyful and comforting there. I hope you have one in your church and take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to get closer to God.
Margaret Regina McDevitt
August 4, 1913-June 28, 2006
O God who has defeated death and granted the gift of life to the world, give to your departed sons and daughters repose and security in which pain and grief are forgotten. As you are a good and loving God, pardon every one of their sins of thought, word, and deed.
O Savior who has purchased mortals with your own blood and redeemed them by your death, grant to us by your Resurrection life everlasting. Give rest, Lord, to all the faithful departed, whether in desert lands or in cities, on the sea or on the shore; to those of every age and race. Make them all worthy of you heavenly kingdom. Amen.

SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO

Thanks to Fr. S. T. at Ragemonkey I discovered there will be a Christmas movie called The Nativity to feature a Star Trek actor as the angel Gabriel. Hopefully it will be worth the price of admission:D

Day Dreamin'

My "Cool" Ball Player

My First Knitting Needles
Don't know if you can tell, but these were originally all blue, but over time and much use they are now blue to light blue to silver at the tip. #8 Boye still gets the job done!

Workin' Some Blues
This is a garter stitch pad for the Basil and Abner Charity Drive but also works for the Project Spectrum color of the month. It's Red Heart held with two strands on #8 needles. Colors of Ocean and Delft Blue.

M Is For Mismatched Mittens
This is my first try at mittens. Can you tell the difference? The one on the left is OK. The other does not have the thumb in the correct place. It's ok though. It's for a medium child size and didn't take too long to do. I accomplished a goal and that was to learn how to make mittens. There's more to learn of course, but it's a nice start even if one didn't turn out the way I'd planned. The goofed one is the first one of course, but Daniel liked to put them on and spar a bit. I think I'll have to knit him up a pair before it gets cold. I plan on making a match for the good one for the Dulaan Project and felting the goofed one and stuffing it with catnip for the Basil and Abner Charity Drive. Waste not want not:D
PS If I made them in green they would look so much like desert cactus. HA! HA!

FEAST OF CORPUS CHRISTI

THE BLESSED SACRAMENT IN ADORATION CHAPEL ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH
SPRINGFIELD, MO
Our Father
Who art in heaven
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive
Those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but
Deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, the power and
The glory forever.
AMEN.

It's The Little Things

The groups I belong to are ones that I know I can contribute to since most of the items knitted are of the small variety. The ones that give almost INSTANT GRATIFICATION:D Plus those little things can go a long way toward giving people who hurt a small piece of genuine heartfelt homemade goodness. It's my small way of saying Thank You God for all the many blessings that have been given me. It really is a great feeling to help even in small ways. My greatest blessings have been given in small packages. Today I celebrate my son Daniel's birthday. He came into this world at 2lb 1oz. 10 weeks early. A deeply profound, life altering thing his birth was. I don't know why we had to endure this trial by fire, but it helped us learn and ask the right questions and do better with his brother Michael. I can't say if God will bless us that way again, but today I'm so grateful for having three healthy children. If you are so inclined please consider giving just a little something to The Preemie Project. You don't have to join the Yahoo group, but if you do there's NO rules, membership dues, donation quotas, or obligations. Just make and donate what you can, when you can. Send items to:

Dulaan Sweater In The Works

Three Blind Mice
After stuffing them with batting and catnip these and hopefully a few more will be going to Rebekah for The Basil and Abner Charity Drive for her local humane society. Check out the cool prizes!! It runs til the middle of July and these cuties also help with the small amounts of cotton yarn I have left over from the Cloths For Crisis cloths I'm stockpiling for the next disaster. Since the hurricane season lasts til November I have a lot more cloths to make.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY SWEET BOY!

Sarah, Adrianna, Daniel and Me
Here we are at Sequiota Park. Sarah was knitting some beautiful blue socks and I was knitting on the garter stitch Bunny Print blanket. Sadly Adrianna a crocheter and wood carver is blogless, but perhaps not for long:D We missed Brianne and hope everything is ok.
It was a lot of fun meeting a local blogger as well as her friend Adrianna. It was nice in the shade as there was a breeze to help things be a little cooler. Maybe next time we can meet in the air conditioned library? Where did you knit in public?

The bowl was found at a yarn sale where I met the woman I was named after (Twilight Zone experience), I love Fiestaware and I saved up for mine in Cobalt blue, the glass is one we registered for when we got married gifted to us by SIL Paula and family, and the cute kitty is one I found at a garage sale and he just begged to come home with me:D

TLC BABY IN BUNNY PRINT BLANKET IN THE MAKING

L Is For Lightning Bug
When I was a very young girl my cousin Teresa lived up the steet from us. She is about 5 years older than me and one summer we decided to create the Lightning Bug Bikini Club. We liked to catch lightning bugs and wear bikinis. T liked to listen to Annette Funacello records and have fun. Today I love watching the yellow flickers of light and remembering the fun summer we had. We found this fellow flying around the zoo today. Too bad I can't take a better pic especially at night. There's just something special about these bugs:D
