UNPLANNED KNITTING

I hadn't planned on knitting another round blanket so soon, but Norm's boss's wife wanted to have one made with a matching hat/booties. Well, basically I'm flexible with my knitting, especially since I'll get paid for this;~)
I've been trying to finish up the cloths before the end of this month, but I guess I'll just have to postpone that for a bit. There will always be a need and it sounds like Mischelle has about a dozen to donate to our local Red Cross. Way to go Mischelle!!!
Pictured are the latest three I finished. The sailboat, a beagle, and a waving frog.

A SHORT VISIT TO BRANSON

We took advantage of #1 son going camping with some friends to take the younger kids to Branson to spend the night and saw the Jim Stafford show. Norm and I had seen him about ten years ago and he still has a wonderful show that makes you feel good just to be there. Everyone had a fun time. In fact, Jim is 64 and still can put on a mighty fine show! He also has a 15 year old son and an 11 year old daughter that are a part of the act.
If you are planning a trip to Branson, just remember that "Branson is an old Indian word for bumper to bumper!" No foolin'! Sunday morning the traffic is at an almost stand still heading out of town and it's the same after the shows. Why not stay another day and see another show. Of all the shows I've seen they've all been top notch and worth every penny.
Knitting on some cloths and on a new project for someone at Norm's work. Hope to have some knitting pics soon.
Spent today with Daniel getting his spacers put back in, washing Eric's pillow and sleeping bag at the laundry mat(prime knitting time), getting copies made at the library, and doing various other chores. Can you believe July is almost over? I'm feeling like I'm spinning my wheels and getting no where. So glad we got to have our mini vacation, but I'm also feeling worn out.
Ya'll take it easy, 'cause it's HOTout there!!!

A PICTURE FOR CAROLYN

The boys say "HI"!!!! And thanks for the goodies:~D

MONDAY MEANDERINGS

26" from tail to top. That is from just one skein.
*I've done just a couple of rows with the beige on the log cabin blanket.
**I'll be working primarily on cloths starting Wednesday.
***I'm 52 pages away from finishing the first part of "Don Quixote". It's been interesting enough, but I usually read a bit before I go to bed and sometimes sleep is more important.
****One of my favorite all time movies is "The Day The Earth Stood Still". Can you imagine how excited I was that they are doing a remake due out this December with Keanu Reeves!! Normally I cringe when I hear Hollywood is going to remake a classic, but sometimes they do a fine job. Daniel and I went to see "Journey to the Center of the Earth" and it was a fun film.(would have been better in 3-D like advertised, but for some reason they didn't have it in 3-D) Definitely not an exact remake like "Psycho" which was such a waste. No way are they ever going to do as good a job as the original with that and they didn't really change anything.
*****Hope everyone is having a wonderful summer!

GOOD NEWS... HE FORGIVES

While reading this article about a near death experience, it makes me sad to think of all the times I've hurt people and especially not intentionally. How wonderful Jesus is to forgive us!

FLAG BOY

Hurray for the red, white and blue!!!

LOG CABIN BLANKET II PROGRESS

I'm almost done with the wine color and will start on the beige. Really liking this pattern and though I have a ton of other knitting to get to I want to finish this up soon.

SEEING STARS THROUGH TEARS

Daniel and I made stars for the Holocaust Project. It is very difficult for me to think of such horrific events, but you know, another holocaust is happening today with abortion. How many millions of innocent babies have been murdered in their mother's wombs? GOD HELP US!!!

MY FIRST EVERLASTING BAGSTOPPER

So here it is, the mystery project I just finished! Knitty's, Everlasting Bagstopper! I made some noticeable mistakes but they aren't that bad and won't affect the function of the bag. I really like it and it wasn't too bad to knit up except I had to slow things down and really focus on the lace pattern. I opted to knit up my handles and not to have a drawstring. It's made from Fusione Trends cotton yarn. I bought three skeins and used slightly less than two. I can see me making at least one more from the stash. It expands very well and is lightweight. What's not to like?

DONATION DAY

Today Daniel and I went to get the a/c fixed in the car and then we found our local chapter of Newborns In Need. We donated the preemie hat/bootie sets, the ripple blanket and the log cabin blanket. I'll make up a burial bunting and see if they like that too. There's a tremendous variety of items they could use!!! One of the ladies there gave us a tour and it's VERY impressive. It's such a wonderful thing to have such a group of dedicated volunteers help so many families here in the Ozarks:~D
I really loved being a part of The Preemie Project, which is headquartered in Iowa, and now they've reached the point where they have a lot more local involvement so I feel I can focus my knitting to my local Newborns In Need.
I'm working on more cloths (along with Mischelle, you go girl!) and on another log cabin blanket. The stash may be getting down but there's still so much of it!!!
Thanks all for the wonderful comments on my donations! I know I make a lot of the same things but it's a small way to give back since God has blessed us so richly! I've also got another project on the needles that I'll show you soon. Can you say knitting addiction?;^P

SOMETHING FOR THE LITTLE GIRLS

This is the second and last installment for this contest. This time it's for the girls. It's not too late to enter should the spirit move you:~D Using Caron Simply Soft and this pattern for the hat and this for the booties. Sometime this month I intend to contact Newborns in Need and donate all the preemie hat/bootie sets and blankets I have been making.

HARVESTING HAIR

It's been around 22 months since I last donated hair to Locks of Love. This time around my dear hubby chopped off a little more than 12". It's such a great relief to not have so much hair on my back during the rest of this summer! My dear hubby likes my hair long but knows it means a lot to me to be able to give my hair to such a wonderful organization. I keep reminding him that it grows back. A renewable harvest:~D
They actually will accept shorter hair if put in a ponytail or braid and sell it to offshoot their costs. Why not check out their site and see what you can do?

TWO PADS FOR THE HUMANE SOCIETY

Here are the two pads I made from the cotton ends, so far. I'm working on the solid colors making cloths up with different patterns. I'll have to post a picture of them later.

MY YARN BOXES RUNNETH OVER

Another generous soul has given me a huge bag of wool yarn with some patterns and a book of hat patterns! A woman called Carol at Simply Fibers and was getting rid of her stash of wool and wanted to know if Carol knew of anyone who knitted for charity. Carol thought of me and so now I have so much more yarn. It's lovely and I can hardly wait to get into it.
ps If you get a chance, why not visit Carol and see the beautiful cotton yarns available:~)
