Phillipians 4:4-13
4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again, I say, rejoice. 5 Let your modesty be known to all men. The Lord is nigh.

6 Be nothing solicitous; but in every thing, by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your petitions be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasseth all understanding, keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. 8 For the rest, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever modest, whatsoever just, whatsoever holy, whatsoever lovely, whatsoever of good fame, if there be any virtue, if any praise of discipline, think on these things. 9 The things which you have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, these do ye, and the God of peace shall be with you. 10 Now I rejoice in the Lord exceedingly, that now at length your thought for me hath flourished again, as you did also think; but you were busied.

8 "Whatsoever things are true"... Here the apostle enumerates general precepts of morality, which they ought to practise, in words, in promises, in lawful oaths, etc., he commands rectitude of mind, and sincerity of heart.

8 "Whatsoever modest"... by these words he prescribes gravity in manners, modesty in dress, and decency in conversation. Whatsoever just-- That is, in dealing with others, in buying or selling, in trade or business, to be fair and honest.

8 "Whatsoever holy"... by these words may be understood, that those who are in a religious state professed, or in holy orders, should lead a life of sanctity and chastity, according to the vows they make; but these words being also applied to those in the world, indicate the virtuous life they are bound by the divine commandments to follow.

8 "Whatsoever lovely"... that is, to practise those good offices in society, that procure us the esteem and good will of our neighbours. Whatsoever of good fame-- That is, that by our conduct and behaviour we should edify our neighbours, and give them good example by our actions. If there be any virtue, if any praise of discipline-- that those in error, by seeing the morality and good discipline of the true religion, may be converted. And finally, the apostle commands, not only the Philippians, but all Christians, to think on these things-- that is, to make it their study and concern that the peace of God might be with them.

11 I speak not as it were for want. For I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, to be content therewith. 12 I know both how to be brought low, and I know how to abound: (everywhere, and in all things I am instructed) both to be full, and to be hungry; both to abound, and to suffer need. 13 I can do all these things in him who strengtheneth me.

Virtual March For Life

I was person number 46,441 to sign up for the Virtual March For Life. Wish we could actually be there in Washington, D. C. to fight for a culture of life!

Diversions

This week has been about doing new things in order to break up the constant knitting on pads. At top we have some embroidery that can be done once a month to break things up. At bottom is the beginning of a scarf for The Red Scarf Project. I also wound some red Cascade 220 into balls for another scarf for them. There's also a baby blanket I've started but I want to wait til I've completed it before I share. So hard to believe we are 2/3's of the way into the month of January so far. I have a feeling this year will zoom by. I foresee a lot of knitting, embroidery and sewing along with some cross stitching and who-knows-what ahead for this particular year. It's just such a wonderful feeling to know what you work at with your hands can mean something wonderful for others.

Just like to keep a record of how many pads I'll be making with the donated yarn. With the work consisting of only knit stitches the color variations make the work more interesting to see how each will turn out.

What?! Phone Scammers?

Yes, Bobby. Those bad people who started way back about two years ago who are trying to scare me into giving them information and ultimately money.
To begin, they called wanting to know if I was the correct person they were looking for but did not have the correct social security number or address. They try to get you to say what yours is but I knew better. So they try again about a year later and the guy says he's a private detective and that they are looking for me because they accuse me of being the person they are looking for who used a check cashing service and want me to pay them over $3oo. dollars. They say that the statute of limitations is almost up and that if I don't pay back the money then the police are going to come and arrest me. Well, it doesn't matter that I tell them I'm not the person they are looking for. It's a very upsetting situation. He's accusing me of lying and that the police are going to come to arrest me if I don't pay the money back. But I call my dear hubby who calls the Sheriff's department and tells them what is going on. He calls me back and tells me that before we met the same kind of thing happened to him. It's a phone scam. They think that you'll either give them personal info or just give them the money so they will leave you alone.
This morning I got another phone call. This time the guy said that I had wanted to verify if I was the person they were looking for about a case they were looking at. Just another ploy to get me to give out my personal info. Well, I told him that I was not the person they were looking for and that they'd better prove it themselves! I hung up and they called again. I just answered "Prove it!" and hung up. They called again but I let the machine get it. They didn't leave a message.
I called dear hubby again and told him they were at it again. His sage advice. Get the name of the company they are working for, the callers name and a way to get back in touch with them. Tell them that the Sheriff's office would like to get in touch with them:~)
