SUPER KNIT SUNDAY
Here is some info on this Sunday's knitting event to help Warm Up America. It will help to get rid of the acrylic in my stash:~D
On the needles now are the pumpkin scarf, some white booties to go with the hats, a simple one skein hat from "Wendy Knits", and MY Irish Hiking Scarf is begun. The Itty Bitty Hats book came in today and I can hardly wait to get started on something from it!
If you have some favorite recipes you'd care to share, The Preemie Project is collecting them for a cookbook as a fund raiser until March 16. You may click here to submit as many as you would like. Well, I guess that's all that's cookin' for now folks. Take care and keep warm<*:~)

1/2 cup butter
1 cup granulated sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
food coloring - optional
If you know how to make cookies you know what order you mix the ingredients up. If you want to color the dough do so and then roll into a log about 7 1/2" long and 2" around. Wrap in waxed paper or aluminum foil, or plastic wrap. Put it in the refrigerator overnight or longer. When you want to bake them preheat oven to 400F. Grease the cookie sheets. Slice dough into 1/4" thick cookies. Bake for 8 minutes. When done take them off cookie sheet to cool on wire rack.
Really a basic sugar cookie recipe. Just play and have fun:D

SIX WEIRD THINGS ABOUT ME...A MEME
1. I was born on a Friday the 13th, but am not superstitious.
2. My college roomie Becky used to tell me I sang in my sleep. My hubby says I sit up in my sleep (probably knitting:~D)
3. Met my hubby through the newspaper intro ads.
4. My hubby and I practice Natural Family Planning. In a poll we once read said that a sad 4% of US Catholics actually practice!
5. A few years back I heard a voice clearly say Matthew 8:15 and awakened me. I looked it up and it says "So He (Jesus) touched her (Peter's mother-in-law) hand, and the fever left her. And she arose and served them." I take it to mean that Jesus is there for me any time and I need to focus on serving Him and my fellow brothers and sisters.
6. I have kept the first cookbook I ever got from Scholastic Books. I think it was in 4th grade. A cookie cookbook. A cookie recipe for every month, YUM!!!
I won't tag anyone. If you'd like to do this just leave a comment and I'll come visit:D
THE KNIT-IN REPORT
A wonderful couple of hours was had at my LYS where I met up with my new friend Tammy (check out her cool stash enhancements) and friend Zarah. I met some other knitters whose names I don't know, but it was a nice, nice diversion for me. In the pic is the pumpkiny scarf I worked on in Cascade 220, the apple green malabrigo (kettle dyed pure merino wool) is for an Irish Hiking Scarf for me, a couple of red skeins of Cascade 220 for The Red Scarf Project and a couple of skeins of Lanett Superwash (100% merino ull) for some items for some warm baby items. All on sale!!! Thanks Carol:~) The guidelines from the Knit From Your Stash have been met and I'm satisfied;~D

I've been giving the knitting needles quite a workout too. I finished the sweater made from a pattern from the May 2006 issue of Creative Knitting magazine. Then made the hat that went along with the sweater, just changed the coloring. The fun fur is now out of the stash:D I'm sure the kids will have a good time with the hats. I also gathered some small balls of leftover wool yarn and whipped up another hat. Guess I'll whip up some preemie hat/booties now. The boys won't go back to school until at least next Tuesday. Hope cabin fever won't get too bad. It's too dangerous for them to go outside and play. So many of the broken limbs are still hanging on at the top of the trees. Folks, it's a real mess out there!!! Take care everyone! Please keep praying and your needles clicking:D

FIRST POST OF THE NEW YEAR
Margene has links to some fun KALs. I'll be trying to get some fun fur hats made for Kate's contest for kids fighting cancer. What else would I do with the fun fur in my stash??? As far as making resolutions go I guess it's safer and more realistic to make some goals.
*finish the black Einstein coat before end of March
*make at least 5 preemie hat/bootie sets a month
*make at least one scarf and hat for Dulaan per month
*work on cotton cloths after Dulaan deadline
*take a month out to mainly sew
*make Christmas ornaments on the 25th of each month
*use up fun fur for chemo caps for kids
*not sure where I read it, but making one healthy change a month sounds like a realistic and very doable goal. I think this month I'll focus on getting my sleep schedule more regimented. It's going to be a little tough as I do most of my knitting at early morning and at night, but I think it will be healthier to get to bed at a decent hour.
Whatever you do, making resolutions or goals I hope we will all succeed in 2007 in the most important area...seeking first the kingdom of God:D
God bless you!!!
